Network appoints accounting
and education director

Crowe Horwath International has
appointed Howard Sibelman as accounting and education director.

In his new role, Sibelman will be
responsible for providing leadership on training initiatives and
accounting technical support. His duties include assisting with
quality assurance reviews throughout the network to ensure
compliance with audit quality delivery standards.

Previously, Sibelman was the director
of continuing education for a US accounting firm and was also
business assurance partner at US firm Moss Adams. Sibelman has
extensive accounting, auditing and consulting experience with
middle-market companies in sectors including manufacturing,
distribution, entertainment, hospitality and real
estate.

Berk
acquires PwC office in Holland

Dutch mid-tier firm Berk has acquired
a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) office in Goes, the Netherlands.

The Big Four firm sold off the office
as part of a PwC strategy to leave the regional SME market. The
office, which comprises 60 staff, will officially become a part of
Berk in October.

Berk is a member of Baker Tilly
International and earned revenue of €90.5 million ($132 million) in
its 2007/08 financial year. The firm has 19 offices and more than
900 staff across the Netherlands. It is the seventh-largest firm in
the country, according to International Accounting
Bulletin
 data.

Goes is a town in the Zeeland region
and has a population of about 36,000 people.

STRATEGY
INPACT recruits Slovakian
firm

INPACT International has added
Slovakian firm bnt to its membership.

The admission expands the INPACT
International presence in East Europe, where it is represented by
firms in Belarus, Hungary, Poland and Russia.

bnt was established in 2007 as a group
of lawyers but now specialises in providing tax advisory and
accounting services. The firm has three partners and eight staff.
Tax services account for 95 percent of its fee income.

Meanwhile, INPACT will celebrate its
20th anniversary in October by hosting a four day conference in
Vienna.

Martin Manuzi of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of England and Wales is among the keynote
speakers.
