He has advised a wide range of companies, from those entering new markets to listed multinationals with established global operations.

Gibson joins from BDO, where he spent four years as an international tax partner following a 20-year career at Deloitte, including five years as partner.

Commenting on his appointment, Gibson said: “It is an exciting time to be joining S&W and I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm to deliver practical, high-quality advice to our clients that helps them to achieve their ambitions.

“Despite economic headwinds, operating internationally continues to present a source of growth and opportunity for businesses and I will be focused on helping clients unlock those opportunities while navigating the increasingly complex tax and regulatory landscape.”

The hire follows S&W’s recent move to larger premises at Pall Mall on King Street in central Manchester, doubling its office space in the city.

S&W North Regional managing partner Donna Bulmer said: “Ed’s appointment is a fantastic addition to our team and further strengthens our offering across Manchester and the north.

“His international tax expertise, combined with his commercially focused approach, will be invaluable as we continue to support clients navigating cross border growth and increasing complexity.”

Last month, S&W created an economic advisory practice, and appointed Schellion Horn and Jonathan Gillham as partners to lead the new team.
