Top 20 accountancy firm Wilkins Kennedy has merged with Griffins accountants, creating a combined firm with 73 partners and an expected turnover of £50 million. The firms completed the transaction and the merged firm will trade as Wilkins Kennedy.

The deal is an important part of Wilkins Kennedy’s growth strategy for the region. As well as providing a strong presence in Newbury, Reading and Berkshire, the firm now has continuous office coverage from Southampton and the South Coast, through Winchester and up to the M4 corridor.

In October the firm merged with Day, Smith & Hunter in a deal that created one of the largest independent firms in Kent.

Matt Hall, partner at Wilkins Kennedy, said: “Griffins is a well-established and highly respected firm in Newbury and Reading, and we are delighted to be joining forces with them to grow our combined business. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to the WK team and to working with them.”

Two Griffins directors will join Wilkins Kennedy. Chris Duggan joins as a partner and Ken Weeks as a consultant.

Chris Duggan said: “We are delighted to be merging with Wilkins Kennedy, a firm that shares our culture and ethos. As well as enabling us to offer additional advisory services to our clients, this deal gives us access to specialisms such as international assistance and specialist HR advice.”
