DJH expands regional reach with Thorne Widgery deal

DJH, a UK-based accountancy and professional services group, has strengthened its footprint in the Midlands and Welsh Borders through the acquisition of Thorne Widgery.

Thorne Widgery was established more than 80 years ago and focuses on serving owner-managed businesses with a technology-led model.

The company started in Hereford and has since expanded with additional offices in Ludlow and Shrewsbury.

Under the agreement, Thorne Widgery will join DJH, taking its existing client portfolio and team into a larger group with national reach and a wider range of specialist services.

XfE, Thorne Widgery’s accounting platform for schools and academy trusts, will also join the DJH group.

Local management will remain in place. Daniel Crowther will continue to lead the Thorne Widgery team, working alongside Lizzie Roberts and Sam King.

For DJH, this transaction represents its 22nd acquisition over the past five years.

With the Thorne Widgery deal, DJH aims to strengthen its regional presence and gain key clients in Herefordshire and Shropshire.

The DJH group now has close to 900 employees and operates from 19 offices across the UK and Ireland.

In May this year, DJH acquired Forbes Dawson, a tax practice based in Altrincham, UK.
