DJH CEO Scott Heath said: “Forbes Dawson is not a general practice. It is a dedicated tax practice, a firm built entirely around delivering expert, bespoke tax advice to businesses, entrepreneurs, private clients and professional advisers.
“The team brings deep specialism in tax across corporate and business, private client, employee incentive arrangements, VAT, property, SDLT [stamp duty land tax], transactional tax work and tax investigations.
“In short, it delivers tax at a level that rivals the ‘big four’ and this acquisition strengthens our offering for clients across the entire group.”
Forbes Dawson provides tax services to businesses, entrepreneurs, private clients and professional advisers from its base in Greater Manchester.
The company will continue to trade under the Forbes Dawson banner following the deal, with all senior partners staying on to lead the team of around 20 staff in the Altrincham office.
Forbes Dawson joint managing partner Laura Hutchinson said: “We have been very happy as an independent tax practice, setting our own high standards in client care and positioning ourselves as true tax specialists.
“However, we wanted to invest in operational support – HR, marketing, business development and technology. This deal gives us just that.
“Having got to know the team at DJH, we have found a firm whose values and culture align with ours. We are confident that everything that makes Forbes Dawson what it is will be retained, including the brand, while also benefitting from the resources and support the group brings.”
DJH recently announced that it had quadrupled its revenue to £14m ($18m) in five years across Cheshire and Liverpool.
The accountancy and professional services group entered Chester in 2021 through the acquisition of Morris & Co on Cheshire Oaks Business Park.
Since then, revenues have grown from £3.5m to £8m, boosted by the integration of Haines Watts Chester into the business last year.
DJH’s presence in Cheshire is further strengthened by its Liverpool city centre office and the recent acquisition of SB&P in nearby Bootle, bringing total revenues across these four locations to almost £14m.
Last month, DJH acquired Kent-based Loucas Accountants to bolster its South East network.
