Students will undertake academic modules alongside several paid placements during their first two years, supported by mentors and guest speakers from the profession.

In the third year, participants will complete a 15-month placement across Grant Thornton offices in the UK.

The placement is intended to give students the chance to use their academic learning in a workplace setting and develop connections across the company.

The fourth year will combine final-year academic study with further placement activity, mentoring and professional engagement.

Graduates who complete the programme may be considered for permanent roles at Grant Thornton, including an associate chartered accountant (ACA) training agreement and an accelerated path towards qualification.

The University of Leeds is an approved Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales partner and offers exemptions for the ACA qualification.

Applications will be administered jointly through the university’s admissions process and Grant Thornton’s assessment and selection procedures.

Leeds University Business School executive dean Julia Bennell said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Grant Thornton, one of the UK’s leading professional services firms, on Talent Track.

“This distinctive new degree programme brings together the academic rigour and strength of Leeds University Business School with meaningful, paid professional experience.

“Through internships, a full-year placement, mentoring and direct employer engagement, students will gain the knowledge, confidence and professional networks to support their future careers.”

Grant Thornton said the programme is intended to widen access to careers in accountancy and finance.

Grant Thornton UK chief people officer Abigail Fisher said: “By combining academic excellence with real-world experience through our Talent Track programme, we are creating a clear, accelerated route to chartered status for ambitious students, and breaking down traditional barriers to opportunity.

“Our commitment to social mobility means providing the financial security, job prospects and support needed for students to thrive, regardless of their background.”
