A&M Tax EMEA managing director and head Marvin Rust said: “The appointment of these two senior market figures marks a significant moment for our expanding Tax practice as we continue to grow rapidly to meet clients’ evolving domestic and international needs.”
In the new role at A&M Tax Spain, Ángel Calleja and Borja Escrivá de Romaní will build a senior team to address the demand for tax advisory services, particularly in the M&A market.
Ángel Calleja, who has over 35 years of experience in complex M&A deals and restructuring transactions, has been named the leader of the new Spain practice.
Ángel Calleja joins from White & Case where he was the ead of Tax in Madrid. He earlier served as lead tax adviser for several large Spanish and foreign multinationals.
Borja Escrivá de Romaní has over 30 years of expertise as a tax adviser, specialising in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and corporate and financial restructuring for multinational companies.
He has been appointed as the Global Transaction Tax lead in Spain.
Romaní’s previous tenure was at Deloitte, where he served as a partner for nearly three decades.
Alvarez and Marsal Tax managing director and global practice leader Ernie Perez said: “Spain is a dynamic economy and significant growth market. There is ample opportunity in this key jurisdiction to do smart, strategic work unencumbered by audit conflict and founded on tailor-made solutions that our competitors cannot offer.
“Ángel and Borja are recognised premier advisers with the networks, brand, and expertise to further attract top-tier talent in the region and drive value for multinationals, private equity firms and private capital clients alike. Moreover, they have a deep understanding of local culture and preferences.”
In February 2024, Alvarez & Marsal appointed Dallas-based Jon Eilertsen as a CFO Services practice managing director within its Private Equity Performance Improvement Group group.
