Toronto firm PKF Hill plans to merge with Grant Thornton Canada on 1 October. All 80 PKF Hill staff will cross over to Grant Thornton, which will now have four offices in Toronto.

Grant Thornton regional managing partner Anita Ferrari said the merger expands Grant Thornton’s footprint in Ontario and strengthens service capabilities in the region.

PKF Hill managing partner Peter Fullerton said the merger will enable the firm to access resources and expertise nationally and globally.

Grant Thornton is the fifth largest accounting firm in Canada with revenue of C$450 million ($435 million) in the year to 30 December 2009, according to the latest International Accounting Bulletin Canada survey.
