The reappointment follows a formal CEO succession process overseen by the company’s independent chair.

This included stages of nomination, assessment and due diligence. The process formed part of broader governance reforms introduced under the company’s Commitments to Change initiative.

PwC Australia’s governance board chair John M. Green said: “The firm has made significant progress across the past three years in embedding cultural change and governance reforms.

“At the same time, the firm has embraced the opportunity to transform how it operates and delivers for clients; with deep industry expertise and the responsible use of AI at the forefront.

“As a Governance Board, we can see the momentum and how the changes the firm has made have positioned us well to continue building trust and confidence in the firm, and more broadly.”

Burrowes shared his two-year vision for the company, and thanked both the governance board for their endorsement and the partners for their continued support.

Burrowes said: “We have strong momentum and while I am optimistic, this is a pivotal moment for our firm, where trust across our industry has been impacted and we must work hard to rebuild confidence.

“Across the next two years, I look forward to working with the partnership on our ambitious agenda, while leaning into industry reform.”

In May this year, PwC Australia launched new actions to embed diversity and inclusion into every stage of its AI development, everyday tools and core operations.
