BDO International has expanded its network to Bangladesh by appointing Bengali accounting firm Nurul Faruk Hasan & Co and its consulting firm Business Consulting Services (BCS) as BDO member firms.

Established in 2008, Nurul Faruk Hasan & Co and BCS provide services in accounting, audit, tax and advisory. By joining BDO International, the joint firm rebrands as BDO Bangladesh.

BDO is one of the first major networks to have a Bengali member firm. Out of the Big Four, only KPMG has a representation in Bangladesh.

The process of admission, however, has not been easy, according to BDO Asia Pacific chief executive officer Stephen Darley. He said that the appointment was over two years in the making and included reviews of the professional services market and the consideration of risks and opportunities.
