Johnston Carmichael appointed Cameron Greenwood as employer services assistant manager, alongside Kenn Gamueda as financial reporting advisory assistant, Julia Garrett as VAT assistant and Abbie Green as audit assistant.

The new arrivals follow the recent appointment of audit partner Gemma Gibson, bolstering the office’s senior leadership.

Gamueda, Garrett and Green have joined on training contracts, which the company says forms part of its longer-term focus on developing future professionals.

They join an established group of early career staff in Newcastle, where four people are already in place and three more are due to start later this year.

Johnston Carmichael Newcastle office partner and head Paul Shields said: “The continued growth of our team reflects both the strength of the local market and our long‑term commitment to the North East.

“Our focus is on building a team with the depth, breadth and ambition to support clients at every stage of their growth.

“Alongside experienced hires, investing in early career talent is a key part of that – ensuring we continue to develop the next generation of advisers while strengthening our capability across the region.”

The latest hires are part of Johnston Carmichael’s continuing buildout of its Newcastle operation, with investment spanning both experienced roles and entry-level positions.

Johnston Carmichael established its Newcastle base in 2023. Since then, the office has expanded to a team of 25.

In January this year, Johnston Carmichael appointed Stephen Oates as its head of payroll.
