Hogg will continue to work closely with Nicholson and the wider dental team to “build on the strong foundations already in place”, a statement said.
Johnston Carmichael Medical and Healthcare head Louise Peters said: “Sam’s appointment reflects the strength and depth of talent we have within our dental team and our continued commitment to developing our leaders.
“She has played an important role in building strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike, and her knowledge of the sector, ambition and passion for supporting dental businesses make her the ideal person to lead the team forward.”
Nicholson, who joined Johnston Carmichael as a trainee two decades ago, is a member of the National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers (NASDAL).
The appointment comes as Johnston Carmichael aims to strengthen its position as an adviser to the dental sector.
The company’s Medical & Healthcare team offers accounting and business advisory services to dentists, doctors, pharmacists, opticians, care home operators and other healthcare professionals across the UK.
Commenting on her appointment, Nicholson said: “Having worked closely with dental clients for many years, I have seen first-hand the resilience, innovation and ambition that exists throughout the dental industry, as well as the strength of our team, the quality of service we provide and the trusted relationships we have built throughout the sector.
“We have a fantastic team with expertise across a wide range of disciplines, and I look forward to working closely with colleagues throughout the firm to deepen our understanding of clients’ needs and ensure they continue to receive the joined-up insight, advice and support they need to succeed.”
