
Grant Thornton has named Michael Kempe as the new chief information officer (CIO) to bolster its technology operations.
Kempe has over 20 years of experience in driving digital transformation and global business strategy.
He is expected to play a ‘pivotal role’ in boosting the firm’s technology operations and strategy execution.
Before joining Grant Thornton, Kempe served in various senior technology leadership roles, including regional and international CIO positions at KPMG.
At KPMG, Kempe focused on driving revenue growth and improving operational efficiencies by implementing digital transformation initiatives, utilising Cloud and AI technologies.
Grant Thornton is the brand for two professional-services entities including Grant Thornton LLP, a certified public accounting (CPA) firm, and Grant Thornton Advisors LLC.

Kempe’s role comes at time as Grant Thornton prepares to merge its advisory and tax businesses with those of Grant Thornton Ireland.
