Professional services company Grant Thornton has announced the appointment of 15 new partners across its audit, tax, and advisory in Ireland.  

This development follows the company’s merger of its advisory and tax arms with the US counterparts, aimed at expanding its audit, advisory, and tax services for an international client base. 

Among the new appointees, Declan Walsh has been named chief operating officer and Simon Nicholas as head of Grant Thornton’s Isle of Man practice.  

Walsh, a member of the firm’s leadership team, with a focus on growth, innovation, and operational excellence.  

He joined Grant Thornton in 2022, bringing experience in strategy execution and business transformation. 

Walsh’s background includes senior leadership roles at a global insurance company, where he managed projects across the US, Spain, and Portugal.

Meanwhile, Nicholas brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services, technology, and gaming sectors. 

Nicholas’s expertise spans audit, mergers and acquisitions, valuation, strategy design, and regulatory advice.  

He studied Mathematical Statistics with Economics at the University of Exeter and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.  

The recent partner appointments include Victoria Armitage, Áine Logan, Paul Prenter, Robert Ryan, Sharon Scanlan, and Ross Sheridan in advisory.  

In audit, Bronagh Bourke, Sarah Bradley, Sean Ridley, and Graham Stirling have been appointed as partners, while Mark Bradley, Janette Maxwell, and Úna Ryan join the tax division as partners.

Earlier in 2024, the firm announced six new partners in January, followed by Robert Fitzgerald as a financial services tax partner in March, and Emma Broderick as head of indirect tax in September.
