For the fourteenth year in succession, national audit, tax, advisory and risk firm, Crowe, has been named the top charity auditor in Civil Society’s Charity Finance Audit Survey for 2022.

This is a position that Crowe has held since 2009 and reinforces the Social Purpose and Non Profit team’s long-standing commitment to the sector, which has been led by Naziar Hashemi for the past 4.5 years.

The annual survey, now in its 30th year covers 819 charities with combined income of £30.2bn ($36.7bn), paying audit fees of £30.6m ($37.2m). The result is a comprehensive overview of the current state of the competitive audit market in the charity sector. The Charity Finance Audit Survey provides an authoritative insight into the top charity auditors and is a useful reference point for charities to see who really specialises in this sector.

Crowe head of social purpose and non profits, Naziar Hashemi, sad: “We are proud to have retained our leading position as the top charity auditor. Quality remains the cornerstone of our philosophy in delivering a rigorous audit coupled with excellent client service.  Once again, we could not have retained this position without our committed team of specialists who are passionate about this sector. We understand the impact of the challenging times on charities and those that they support. We will continue to invest in supporting the sector in meeting the ever-changing regulations, financial management issues and reporting requirements bringing insight to help maximise charities’ impact for their stakeholders and beneficiaries.”

Crowe chief executive, Nigel Bostock, further added: “Crowe is committed to social purpose and non profit organisations in the UK and Globally which is central to the delivery of our strategy. Some years ago, we took a decision to specialise and develop skills in the charity sector across a multi-disciplinary team which now accounts for approximately 20% of our business. In these economically challenging times it is imperative that auditors have deep understanding of the sectors they are providing services to in order to deliver a quality added value audit. I am very proud of each and every one of our team members for working hard and helping us retain our market leading position.”
