Clive Owen, an independent UK-based accountancy, business and tax advisory practice, has moved its Newcastle operation to Gainsborough House on Grey Street.
The Newcastle office, the company’s fifth, was launched in October 2024 at the Spire on Pilgrim Street with a single employee. It has since grown to a 13-person team, prompting the shift to a larger city centre site.

The move is intended to provide more space for future expansion and to support work with clients across different sectors.
Stephen Harris leads the Newcastle office.
The senior team includes recently promoted partner Chris Tindle, VAT partner Hydeam Sulton and audit specialist Suzanne Layfield, alongside Liz Rothery and Brad Haywood.
Harris said: “Our growth in Newcastle has exceeded expectations since opening in 2024.
“What started with a skeleton team has quickly developed into a strong and ambitious office serving clients across the region.
“The move to Grey Street is a significant milestone for the firm and a clear statement of intent. Newcastle is an important business hub, and we are committed to continuing to invest in the city, our people and the services we provide.”
The Newcastle base offers services spanning accounts, audit, consulting, corporate finance, corporate tax, private client tax and VAT.
The investment in the new premises forms part of the company’s wider plans for growth across the North of England, where it also operates in Darlington, Durham, Middlesbrough and York.
Clive Owen joint managing partner Simon Hook said: “Newcastle has been a fantastic success story for the firm in a relatively short period of time.
“The growth of the team demonstrates both the strength of the market and the calibre of the people we have in place there.
“This investment reflects our confidence in the North East economy and our ambition to continue building a strong presence in Newcastle.”
