Software company BlackLine has released Verity Prepare, a multi‑agent AI system aimed at automating manual and time‑consuming steps in accounting.
The company said the system coordinates a “specialised digital workforce” to independently review supporting documents, match transactions, identify reconciling items and compile reconciliations that are ready for audit.

Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
According to BlackLine, this approach differs from standard text‑based AI assistants as it combines multi‑agent automation with human oversight.
The intention is to speed up financial close while maintaining full control and auditability for finance teams.
The company said Verity Prepare is now generally available following an early adopter programme.
The solution was developed to meet the governance expectations of enterprise finance, including those of users, management, auditors, audit committees and regulators.
It is designed to replace this series of fragmented tasks with a coordinated AI‑driven workflow. Instead of relying on separate tools, multiple specialised AI agents work together to handle the full preparation process.
BlackLine said these agents automatically ingest supporting documents, detect anomalies, draft explanations for variances and assemble a complete reconciliation package for human review and approval.
By automating the workflow end‑to‑end rather than individual tasks, the company said Verity Prepare significantly reduces manual effort.
BlackLine CEO Owen Ryan said: “Finance organisations aren’t looking for AI that simply automates more tasks – they are looking for AI they can trust with their most critical financial processes.
“Trust isn’t achieved through autonomy alone. It comes from transparency, governance and maintaining robust human oversight. Verity Prepare gives finance teams the confidence to deploy AI across one of accounting’s most complex processes while keeping professionals firmly in control.”
