Functioning as a capability hub, the CoE aims to bolster Singapore’s role as a “trusted node” globally, working with companies, academia and the public sector to co-develop solutions and support AI ecosystem development.

KPMG will use itself as “Client Zero” for suitable solutions co-developed through the CoE to test them within its own operations before offering them to clients.

Initial work will focus on financial services, infrastructure and logistics, manufacturing, government, healthcare and real estate, as well as functions such as finance, governance, risk and compliance, customer service and operations.

KPMG Singapore managing partner Lee Sze Yeng said: “Through the KPMG Singapore Trusted AI Centre of Excellence, we are partnering with businesses to rigorously assess where they stand, close the gaps that matter, and build AI that is trusted not just locally but in the markets most critical to their growth.”

At the same event, KPMG rolled out its Trusted AI Assurance framework, described as an evidence-based approach to assess AI deployments and provide businesses in Singapore with a clearer route to scaling AI.

Trusted AI Assurance is aligned with the EU AI Act, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO 42001 and Singapore’s Model AI Governance Framework.

Singapore EDB managing director Jermaine Loy said: “We welcome KPMG Singapore’s efforts to work with EDB and the relevant agencies in advancing Singapore’s position as a globally trusted hub for AI deployment and innovation.”

Recently, KPMG integrated Anthropic’s Claude AI into its global technology platform Digital Gateway.
