Simonsen has a background in financial due diligence and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategy.

Over his career, he has advised corporate and private equity clients on “more than 100 M&A transactions”.

His work includes buy-side and sell-side quality of earnings reviews across sectors such as consumer products, ecommerce, media and entertainment, technology and professional services.

Before joining PKF O’Connor Davies, Simonsen was a TAS director at a national accounting practice. In that capacity, he worked with C-suite executives, deal teams and investors on risk assessment, synergy analysis and post-acquisition integration planning.

Prior to that, he worked for a global consultancy, where he carried out financial due diligence on structured finance transactions.

He also worked at a ‘Big Four’ accounting company, auditing hedge funds, private equity funds and investment companies with assets under management exceeding $25bn.

Commenting on the appointment, PKF O’Connor Davies Client Services managing partner Jonathan Moore said: “Rick’s extensive transaction advisory experience and proven leadership capabilities make him a valuable addition to our team.

“His track record of providing strategic advice to clients as well as his ability to build and grow high-performing teams align with our commitment to providing unparalleled service to our clients.”

The company said that the appointment is part of its continuing effort to strengthen its TAS offering for private equity groups and founder-led businesses.

In February last year, PKF O’Connor Davies appointed Darryl Wegner as managing director in its forensic, litigation and valuation practice.
