BDO has announced plans to introduce Fieldguide, an agentic AI platform designed for audit and advisory functions, to upgrade its client service capabilities.
Within its UK and Ireland (UK&I) business, the company intends to incorporate the technology across its consulting, risk and outsourcing divisions.
Access deeper industry intelligence
Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
The autonomous tools will support assurance and advisory mandates, with the objective of providing clients with “better” quality assurance, guidance and insights.
BDO plans to collaborate directly with the software provider to design workflows that embed AI into project planning and routine operational execution, targeting labour-intensive and administrative duties throughout the engagement life cycle.
According to the company, this shift will enable its professionals to dedicate more time to direct client engagements, focusing on complex analysis and human judgment to improve client relationships and deliverables.
BDO stated that implementing the system will “transform” the client experience by creating avenues to trial ideas promptly and establish quicker feedback loops to accelerate refinements.
Clients will also be able to interact directly with project teams through the platform, which includes protected file-sharing capabilities and clearer visibility into project progress across the duration of an assignment.
BDO confirmed that the technology will be deployed in accordance with its internal AI guidelines to ensure safe, responsible and ethical application.
BDO executive board member and UK&I Consulting, Risk and Outsourcing practice head Leigh Treacy said: “The strategic adoption of the Fieldguide platform builds on our existing investments in AI innovation, which are designed to deliver tangible benefits to our clients.
“Through this initiative we are confident that we can enhance quality, consistency and professional capacity through the use of human-centric AI.
“This is an exciting development and one which blends human expertise and technology to deliver a seamless service that supports our clients’ ambitions.”
This move by BDO’s UK&I operation follows previous adoption announcements by BDO Australia and other companies within the wider BDO Global network.
