Duncan & Toplis, a UK-based independent accounting firm, has named Peter Wilson as its new managing director.

Wilson will head the financial advice and wealth management team at Castlegate Financial Management.

Duncan & Toplis Group CEO Damon Brain said: “I’m delighted to welcome Peter to the Duncan & Toplis group – he’s a great fit for us and I look forward to benefiting from the wealth of knowledge and leadership he will bring.

“I’d also like to express my sincere thanks to Andy Severn, who has done an amazing job driving Castlegate over recent years. Andy will be working closely with Peter to ensure a smooth transition and create the foundation for this next period of growth.”

Bringing more than three decades of experience to the role, Wilson has held senior positions at notable firms such as Legal & General Investment Management and Flying Colours Financial Advice.

His background includes direct work with Her Majesty’s Treasury and the Financial Conduct Authority, where he contributed to the UK Financial Capability Strategy.

Wilson’s career also spans senior roles at Kettle Foods, Pfizer, and GlaxoSmithKline. He currently serves as the chair of Medair, an international humanitarian organisation.

He takes over from Andy Severn, who has been instrumental in the company’s development since its inception in 1994.

Severn will continue his association with Duncan & Toplis and will now focus on his portfolio of clients in his new role as a business services director.

Peter Wilson said: “It’s exciting to be joining the Duncan & Toplis group as managing director of Castlegate Financial Management. I’ll be bringing my passion to see lives transformed through bespoke client-focussed financial planning and advice, helping to further enhance the growth of the company during this next period.

“My previous roles have seen me lead on transformative improvements in client experience and adviser leadership, as well as innovation in investment management with the largest pension provider in the UK.”
