US-based accounting, tax and advisory practice PKF O’Connor Davies has selected Denisse Moderski as a partner in its state and local tax (SALT) practice.

She will be based in the company’s New York City office.

Moderski has almost 15 years of experience in state and local tax advisory work. She has advised private equity firms, investment funds, closely held businesses and corporate taxpayers.

Her core focus is on state and local income and franchise tax. She has also supported clients in dealing with complex multistate tax matters and in finding ways to improve tax efficiency.

Moderski’s work covers apportionment and sourcing, multistate tax planning, nexus, pass-through entity tax planning, restructuring and state tax controversy.

She has also advised on state tax issues arising from mergers, acquisitions and other business transactions. This includes tax due diligence, transaction structuring and post-transaction planning.

A certified public accountant in New Jersey and New York, Moderski is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Earlier this month, PKF O’Connor Davies appointed Thomas R. Lemon as a partner in its commercial tax practice.
