Deloitte has appointed Suresh Kanwar as its new managing partner for its UK financial services division, effective from 1 March 2025.

He succeeds Richard Hammell, who will become the clients and markets leader after five years as managing partner for financial services.

With more than 25 years of experience, Kanwar has been advising and delivering for European and global financial services institutions. He specialises in implementing “large-scale” business and technological changes for financial services clients worldwide.

Before his appointment to managing partner, he led Deloitte UK’s Banking and capital markets team.

Deloitte’s financial services practice, which generated £1.6bn ($2.06bn) in revenue last year, collaborates with clients across banking, insurance, investment management, and real estate sectors.

Kanwar said: “I am thrilled to be leading Deloitte’s financial services practice in the UK. In an ever-changing economic, regulatory and technological environment, our clients expect us to continually evolve our offering to meet their needs. I am looking forward to taking on this challenge and bringing our market-leading expertise to them.”

Deloitte UK CEO Richard Houston said: “Suresh’s experience and passion will make him a fantastic leader and a great addition to our UK executive team.

“His expertise in delivering large scale global transformation projects and significant understanding of the financial services industry will ensure we can best support our clients to respond to a complex and evolving market.”

In a recent development, Deloitte appointed David Mitchell as the new senior partner for its Glasgow office.

With more than two decades of professional services experience, Mitchell has been an audit partner at Deloitte since 2016.
