Under the deal, the existing team will remain in Banchory, and the move is expected to generate additional employment in both Orkney and Aberdeenshire.
Birse said: “Selling the business is the obvious choice at this time of my life.
“My husband has been retired for about nine years, I have family and friends around me, I have loads of hobbies – it is time I started to enjoy them all.”
The takeover marks CRC’s first acquisition of another accountancy practice.
CRC has operated from Kirkwall for nearly eight years, providing accountancy and business consultancy services.
CRC founder Calvin Cooper described the purchase of BBKS & Co as the “next important milestone” for the company.
Cooper said: “Bringing BBKS & Co into the CRC fold has been an incredibly exciting step for us this year. This marks a new chapter for CRC, strengthening our team and expanding the expertise we can offer our clients.
“CRC has been successfully serving a number of clients on the Scottish Mainland for years now, but having a base and team in Aberdeenshire will make a world of difference to us.
“This expansion is an exciting opportunity for us to have a physical presence in a new geographic location.”
For the first 12 months, the business will operate as “CRC incorporating BBKS & Co”, before adopting the CRC name in full.
