In a statement, Citrin Cooperman said the deal “accelerates” its AI strategy and expands its capabilities as US-based small and middle-market businesses adapt to changes in competition driven by AI.
The transaction brings together Citrin Cooperman’s knowledge of its clients’ businesses and Rosetree’s expertise in developing and integrating AI systems into daily operations.
The companies will work with middle-market businesses to apply AI across workflows, systems and business processes, rather than limiting its use to experimentation.
Rosetree co-founder David Rosenbaum said: “The companies that benefit most from AI will be the ones that rethink their workflows and bring their people along, not just add new tools.
“For two years, every executive we met wanted to do something with AI. Now the question is where to start and how to make it stick.
“Every engagement leaves us with approaches we can repeat, and because our own delivery is AI-native, we can bring that to Citrin Cooperman’s clients with more agility and more value from day one.”
The acquisition follows AI-related work already being carried out by Citrin Cooperman to support its clients.
In August, Citrin Cooperman appointed Ode – an AI engineering venture established by Anthropic, Blackstone and others – to advance AI applications across its tax, accounting and advisory practices.
The company has also announced AI-related partnerships and investments involving Priority Software, Caseware, Intuit and Tellen.
Citrin Cooperman Advisors CEO Alan Badey said: “Everything we are doing with AI is focused on delivering more value to our clients.
“Think about a large national food distributor and a smaller regional company that do exactly the same thing.
“The national one can rebuild how it operates around AI because it has the resources and access to top talent.
“The regional distributor needs that same access and an AI plan sized to its business. Rosetree helps us provide that.”
