She succeeds Ola Fadipe, who is stepping down from the INE role following a change in executive responsibilities.

Brown will work alongside the senior partner and will sit on BDO’s Public Interest Committee and Oversight Board, as well as other governance forums.
She brings over 25 years’ senior leadership experience at C-suite and managing director level, with a focus on people, talent and culture, and advising boards on governance and technology-led change.
Brown was most recently group chief people and communications officer at Virgin Money UK (now part of Nationwide Group), leading organisation-wide talent and culture initiatives.
Her earlier roles include senior positions at Citi and BT Group, plus trustee and advisory work in the charity sector.
Brown said: “BDO operates in an environment where growth, quality and trust go hand in hand. The constant evolution of the market and the extraordinary pace at which talent must adapt makes this an incredibly interesting role for me.”
Her appointment brings BDO’s INE cohort to four, above the minimum required under the Audit Firm Governance Code.
The line-up now comprises Eammon McGrath, Jane Guyett, David Matthews and Brown.
BDO senior partner Matthew White said: “INE play a vital role at BDO, providing objective oversight and constructive challenge as we continue to grow and respond to a rapidly evolving market.
“Syreeta brings exceptional depth of expertise in people strategy, alongside a strong governance mindset.”
In March this year, BDO’s risk and advisory practice partnered with Fieldguide, an agentic AI platform provider focused on audit and advisory work.
