His remit will also include using technology to support VAT functions and help clients prepare for compliance requirements.

The role will focus on improving the accuracy of VAT determination and the systems that underpin it.

This includes helping clients prepare for new obligations such as the UK’s e-invoicing mandate, which is due to take effect in 2029.

Commenting on his appointment, Steller said: “Joining RSM offers a significant opportunity for me to help develop the firm’s VAT technology offering.

“The team’s focus on providing holistic support and building strong client relationships is something that really resonates with me.

“I look forward to playing a key role in supporting this, and I am excited to get stuck into new and demanding projects, where I can use my experience and expertise to help clients meet today’s evolving tax determination and reporting needs.”

Steller has more than 20 years of experience in tax technology, gained through in-house roles and external advisory work.

Before joining RSM, he was international tax technology director at Ryan.

RSM UK partner and Indirect Tax head Rowena Clifton said: “Adrian’s knowledge of the VAT technology landscape, alongside his hands-on experience both in-house and as an adviser, marks a real coup for our indirect tax services offering.

“We are seeing a growing focus from tax authorities globally on securing improved transparency and regulatory compliance through sophisticated technology solutions.

“We expect that the UK will follow this trend and Adrian’s appointment will significantly strengthen our capabilities for responding to these challenges.”
