To lead the new base, AMS has appointed Sean Dunn as partner and head of Outsourced Accounting.

The role is designed to give Edinburgh-based companies direct senior-level access to the company’s full range of accountancy and advisory services.

Dunn joins AMS with more than ten years’ experience in outsourced accounting and advisory work.

His previous roles include head of operations at a boutique company and director at a “top-five practice”.

In addition to heading the Edinburgh office, Dunn has been given a UK-wide brief to develop and lead a national outsourced accounting service.

This new division, which is being created from scratch within AMS, aims to provide businesses across the country with support on financial compliance, finance operations, planning and strategic finance.

Dunn said: “Too many businesses still treat finance as a cost centre, something to be managed down rather than invested in. The reality is that poor financial control creates real risk and the cost of getting it wrong almost always outweighs the cost of getting it right.

“What we are building at AMS is different. It is not about parachuting in a resource and stepping back – it is about being a genuine partner to the businesses we work with.”

Ahead of the formal launch, AMS has secured three initial clients for the Edinburgh-led outsourced accounting service.

The company said it is also in active talks with two large UK-wide businesses, including one headquartered in Edinburgh.

AMS reported a pipeline of a further ten businesses currently under assessment.

To support this planned growth, the company has begun recruiting.

Two roles in Edinburgh are already being advertised, part of a wider plan to create around 200 jobs across Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The move into Edinburgh follows AMS’ acquisition of Infinity Partnership in Aberdeen, which established its Scottish headquarters.
