The transaction strengthens Azets’ presence in the region and adds around 70 employees and three offices to its UK & Ireland business.
As agreed, Alextra’s teams in Newcastle-under-Lyme (Stoke-on-Trent), Crewe and Warrington will join Azets.
Alextra’s Wealth Management division is excluded from the transaction and will continue as a separate independent business, rebranding as Hexagon Wealth Management.
Azets UK & Ireland (UK&I) CEO Peter Gallanagh said: “We are thrilled to welcome Alextra to Azets. They are a high-performing, well-respected practice with a hugely talented team, and have a history of providing excellent support to SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] both locally and across the country.
“Alextra will be the bridge between the Midlands and North West for Azets and the team there share our approach to supporting and developing our people, our belief in first-rate client service, and our ambition to grow and evolve as a business.”
Alextra’s existing senior team will also remain following the change of ownership.
Director Mathew Weaver has been appointed as office managing partner for the Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe and Warrington sites within Azets.
Weaver said: “We are delighted to join Azets. Becoming part of the Group will help us with our plans to scale and grow, and we will benefit from access to broader infrastructure, capability and support, while maintaining our client-focused approach and local presence.
“It is a very exciting move which will enable us to deliver better value to our clients, work smarter, grow faster and provide greater opportunities for our team.”
Azets added that the business will also be rebranded under the parent company, with clients expected to gain access to a wider pool of specialist advisory services and a larger professional network.
Azets currently has around 4,000 employees across more than 70 offices in the UK.
The company recently appointed Edith Yagoh as its new audit and assurance partner in Birmingham.
