It focuses on foreign-owned businesses operating in France, as well as higher-end mid-market and smaller domestic companies.
The French company’s client base ranges from small and medium-sized enterprises to large multinational groups, along with family offices, private investors, investment funds and their portfolio companies.
The practice has a 60-strong team including 14 partners.
Vachon founding partner Bertrand Vachon said: “Joining S&W marks an exciting new chapter for our firm and our clients. It is the natural evolution of our international strategy.
“For nearly 30 years, we have supported leading French and international companies navigating the complexities of the French financial and regulatory environment.
“Becoming part of S&W expands the support we can offer to clients across multiple markets, while maintaining the personalised, bilingual service we are known for. We look forward to the opportunities this brings for both our team and the businesses we serve.”
The transaction is being positioned as a key step in S&W’s international growth plans, marking its entry into France.
The company’s expansion plans are backed by Apax Funds, which acquired S&W in March 2025.
The move follows two acquisitions completed by S&W in Ireland last year.
Bringing Vachon into the group is intended to broaden S&W’s cross-border offering and deepen services for internationally focused businesses.
As per the terms of the deal, Vachon will continue to operate under its existing brand.
S&W CEO Andrew Wilkes said: “The acquisition of Vachon represents an important milestone in our international expansion strategy. France is a key market for many of our clients, and Vachon’s deep expertise, bilingual capabilities and strong reputation for technical excellence make them an ideal partner.
“The team’s specialist knowledge of French accounting requirements complements our existing offering and strengthens our ability to support clients expanding into Europe. We are delighted to welcome the Vachon team to S&W.”
Earlier this year, S&W selected Alexandra Bray as a partner in the business tax team at its Bristol office.
