In a statement, Scholes CA mentioned that the acquisition is part of its strategy to enhance its offering to its owner-managed, entrepreneurial client base.
The company stated that it will become Scotland’s largest accounting practice in Shetland following the deal.
The deal expands the company’s team size by a third across its office network in locations including Kirkwall, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Laurencekirk, and now Shetland.

Irene Hambleton, who previously held a partnership position at RSM UK, has transitioned to the role of director at Scholes CA’s Lerwick office, which employs 20 people.
Hambleton stated: “This transfer of ownership will give the Lerwick office and team the opportunity to grow as part of an organisation that offers diverse services to a complementary client base as a significant part of Scholes CA.
“We believe this will give the team more flexibility in the projects we pursue and will provide continued growth opportunities for both the Lerwick team and Scholes CA and, importantly, more career opportunities for the team.”
Scholes Chartered Accountants, which offers accountancy and business advisory services, has a client base that spans multiple sectors including agriculture, engineering, fisheries, hospitality and renewable energy.
