Deloitte Australia has appointed Emanuel Hiou
and Mark Haddassin as partners in its tax department.

Hiou was the former head of group taxation
with the National Australia Bank (NAB) and will join Deloitte
Australia’s Melbourne office.

Hiou will focus on M&A, capital
management, structured financing, tax governance and reform.

Haddassin was a former global tax director at
Babcock & Brown (B&B), a global investment and advisory
firm based in Sydney, which went into liquidation last August.

Haddassin will join the Deloitte Australia
team at its Sydney office.

Haddassin’s primary responsibility will be to
grow Deloitte’s infrastructure tax practice while also working in
the M&A space.
