PwC will audit the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC’s) staff pay in one of three reviews that are being conducted after criticism over its gender pay inequalities.
The reviews were commissioned by the broadcaster following the forced disclosure of the pay packages and names of its highest paid staff, revealing those earning at least £150,000 salaries. The disclosure unveiled large pay inconsistencies between male and female staff, inciting disagreements over gender equality.

A group of female BBC presenters reacted by saying that they will be monitoring developments to ensure real change happens, quickly. “We need full transparency. We await the swift release of meaningful data that we can trust and for solutions that will rectify injustices to be put in place before the end of the year,” they said.
Now the BBC has announced that it has commissioned a report on the gender pay gap among staff and a separate audit covering other aspects of equal pay. The separate equal pay audit will be carried out by law firm Eversheds and PwC, and will examine UK-based staff.
