Grant Thornton International has grown in Japan, Italy, Paraguay, Bangladesh and Ethiopia through four mergers and one joint venture.
In Japan, Grant Thornton merged with Kasumigaseki Audit Corporation, previously a Baker Tilly Japan audit firm.
Ria Grant Thornton, in Italy, merged with the audit and assurance operations of Prauditing, which was previously with the Moore Stephens International. Prauditing counts two partners and 20 professionals. The firm has offices in Verona and Vicenza where Ria Grant Thornton had no presence prior to the merger.
Grant Thornton Paraguay merged with a former Baker Tilly International member firm specializing in audit for the agribusiness, industrial and financial sectors. With this merger Grant Thornton International doubled its size in Paraguay.
Grant Thornton International firms in Oman and Yemen merged with the Ethiopian firm AW Thomas to create a new firm in the region. The new firm focus on audit and offers some tax and consultancy services.
In Bangladesh, a joint venture between Grant Thornton Pakistan and Howlader, Yunus & Co has established an advisory services practice bringing together 100 staff across two offices. The practice offers services to a wide range of industries including banks, financial institutions, public corporations and family businesses.
