A partner with EY for over 16 years, Johnson directed the Oceania assurance practice between 2009 and 2012 and played an active role in a number of Australian, Asia-Pacific and global executive leadership committees, according to the network.

EY Asia-Pacific chairman Michael Wachtel praised Johnson’s experience of operating "at the most senior levels of EY including serving some of world’s largest and most prestigious organisations."

He added: "Tony brings to the role an excellent reputation for working with key stakeholders including boards, audit committees, senior management and regulators and is passionate about providing exceptional client service and engaging with both the market and EY teams."

Johnson’s appointment in Oceania follows a round of global executive appointments in August within EY, including the appointments of Uschi Schreiber to global vice chair for markets and global accounts committee chair and Jay Nibbe to global vice chair for tax.
