Speaking to the IAB ahead of the addition for the IAB World Survey, Baker Tilly International chief executive officer and president Geoff Barnes said the addition would make Baker Tilly International the sixth largest network in India.

"The new member is ten times bigger than our existing member," he said at the time. "And all the economists globally are still tipping India as one of the top three economies in twenty years, so we have to have a bigger footprint."

Alongside the new addition Baker Tilly International announced the launch of a Global Centre of Excellence in India with the aim of creating a pool of professionals to readily serve the global markets. "In parallel, a skills institute will be set up in India designed to train graduates to be top class professionals able to meet the demands of the global business community," Barnes added.

DHC chairman Dilip Desai said: "We are confident that this initiative will transform the landscape of professional services in India and that the competence of Indian professionals in the accounting, corporate and tax world will be recognised globally."
