HWB Chartered Accountants has promoted two senior staff members, Tom Young and Matt Cooper, to its Board of Directors.

In a statement, HWB confirmed that both Young and Cooper have been promoted from associate director positions to full directors, supporting the company’s “strategic growth plans”.

They are already registered auditors and can sign audit opinions as responsible individuals, a status formally recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Young began his career with HWB after leaving college, joining as a trainee and securing his associate chartered accountant qualification in 2012.

He progressed into a business adviser role in 2014 and, eight years later, was named an associate director.

In that capacity, he has overseen a wide-ranging client portfolio, working with organisations of varying sizes and across multiple sectors, with a particular emphasis on the property field.

His responsibilities have included audit work and advisory support aimed at helping clients shape and deliver their business plans.

Young said: “I am honoured to step into the role of a director and am very grateful to the board for their continued guidance and support throughout my time at HWB.”

Cooper was promoted to associate director in 2023 after spending eight years as an accounts and audit business adviser. He has also qualified as a chartered accountant.

Cooper has developed experience in areas including education, charities, Financial Conduct Authority-regulated entities, and the construction and recruitment industries.
