EY has rolled out enterprise-scale agentic AI within its assurance practice, a move the company says is intended to shift audits toward an AI-enabled model.
The business is integrating a multi-agent AI framework into EY Canvas, its global assurance technology platform. The system is integrated with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Foundry and Microsoft Fabric.
Access deeper industry intelligence
Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
Through this set-up, audit teams are expected to coordinate complex tasks and processes more effectively and respond to risks in a more adaptive way, while accessing frequently updated auditing and accounting guidance.
With this rollout, AI is being embedded across all stages of the audit via EY Canvas for engagements globally. The initiative follows a period of extensive pilots and testing.
EY anticipates that the technology will underpin all of its end-to-end audit activities by 2028.
The company says the platform is part of a broader shift in how its auditors work. The approach aims to cut administrative demands on clients, enhance risk evaluation, and retain the central role of professional judgement, scepticism and insight.
It added that the system is designed to generate additional insights, improve the audit experience for both clients and staff, reinforce quality, simplify processes, support confidence in outcomes and tailor workflows to specific engagements.
EY Global chair and CEO Janet Truncale said: “As we help the world’s leading organisations transform, we hold ourselves to the same standard – starting as ‘client zero’.
“The rapid growth of data, and the new complexities of assuring AI, demand that our people and technology evolve faster than ever.
“EY’s human-led, AI-powered audit of the future is a market-leading example of enterprise AI in action, delivering greater value, deeper insight and increased confidence for our clients and stakeholders – accelerated by our continued investment under the All in strategy.”
