BK Plus has acquired Read Milburn, an accountancy practice in North Shields, strengthening its foothold within the North East region of the UK.

Read Milburn caters to a variety of businesses and charitable entities.

The company is noted for offering customised advice via accounting, taxation, payroll and company secretarial functions.

BK Plus partner Dawn Walton said: “Read Milburn is exactly the type of firm we want to work with. They have great relationships with their clients, they know their region and they deliver the kind of advice that makes a real difference to business owners.

“Together, we can offer even more support to SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] across the North East, while keeping what matters most – local people delivering local services in local offices.”

This acquisition is expected to broaden the range of services available to clients in the region, stated BK Plus.

Clients of Read Milburn will continue to receive familiar support while gaining access to additional services including corporate finance and specialised tax planning.

The move complements BK Plus’ existing operations in Jesmond, Newcastle, where it established one of its initial regional offices outside the Midlands.

The integration of the Read Milburn team into the Jesmond office is expected to strengthen the support available to SMEs in the North East.

Read Milburn partner Nick Liley said: “Our clients have trusted us for years because we know their businesses inside out. Joining BK Plus means we can keep delivering the same personal service but with the added strength of a national firm behind us.

“It opens up new opportunities for our clients and our team, and we are excited about what this means for the future.”
