BDO South Africa has merged with Grant Thornton’s Cape Town and Port Elizabeth offices, effective from March 2018.
BDO has announced that 413 professionals and 35 partners were joining their network as part of the merger, potentially increasing BDO staff in South Africa to 1,075.

The merger could take BDO at the top of the mid-tier ranking, as in the recent International Accounting Bulletin South Africa survey Grant Thornton was the largest mid-tier network with ZAR 677.6m in FY16, while BDO was the second largest mid-tier network with ZAR 530.2m in the same financial year.
