Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
In her new role, she will assist organisations with complex global operations in managing cross-border goods transit through advisory, compliance and technology services.
She will be responsible for restructuring clients’ customs functions to lower administrative burdens, tighten governance and generate cost efficiencies.
Okuda’s sector background covers aerospace, automotive, manufacturing and retail.
Her work centres on customs compliance, digital transformation and enterprise resource planning (ERP) migration.
She has more than 19 years of experience in the international trade and customs sector.
Prior to joining RSM UK, Okuda ran an independent consultancy and was previously a partner at a Big Four accounting firm.
Okuda said: “The current geopolitical landscape means importing and exporting has never been more complex. Changing regulations, rising costs and growing trade volumes are increasing risks and pressures on customs teams.
“Often, experienced professionals are drawn into administration and coordination, leaving less time for complex regulatory work and fewer opportunities to deliver duty and cash savings.
“I understand how frustrating these challenges can be, so I’m delighted to join RSM where I can help organisations overcome them.
“Technology will be central to this, combining specialist advice, streamlined processes and better use of data to enable customs teams to focus on high value work.”
The appointment is aligned RSM’s plans to expand its indirect and wider tax practice. Last month, RSM UK appointed Adrian Steller as head of VAT technology, strengthening its indirect tax team.
