It follows the company’s September 2025 acquisition of IP advisory business ClearViewIP, a move that formed part of S&W’s plan to build an IP advisory service with international coverage.

S&W’s India office will provide access to experienced IP professionals to add “scale and resilience while enhancing support for its international client base”, a statement said.

The Gurugram team will work with colleagues across the company.

IP strategists Jon Calvert, Josue Ortiz Ramirez and Justin Delfino lead the IP advisory practice.

The service helps organisations manage, protect and extract value from IP and other intangible assets.

Delfino said: “Our clients operate in global, innovation-driven environments, and the ability to access high-quality specialist expertise is becoming ever more important.

“The new India office expands our solutions by adding research, analytics and technology-enabled delivery capabilities.”

S&W added that the Indian office will also contribute research and analytics expertise to the IP advisory operation.

The enlarged team will work across the IP life cycle, covering strategy, portfolio optimisation, implementation and operational transformation.

It will use technology and AI-enabled methods to support efficiency and decision-making.

Clients will also have access to S&W’s wider capabilities in business transformation, consulting, IP strategy, monetisation, transactions and valuation.

S&W CEO Andrew Wilkes said: “The opening of our new office in India is another important milestone in the development of our IP advisory offering and reflects our commitment to investing in specialist capabilities that support our clients’ evolving needs.

“Since acquiring ClearViewIP, we have continued to invest in building a world-class IP advisory practice.

“Establishing a presence in India strengthens our global reach, provides access to exceptional talent and enhances our ability to deliver high-quality support to clients navigating innovation-led growth, commercialisation opportunities and increasingly complex strategic decisions.”

Last month, S&W picked Harinder Soor as a partner within its London-based business tax practice.
