According to the company, he will help clients navigate regulatory change, strengthen risk management and support sustainable growth.
Mayo said: “The best assurance functions don’t just identify risk; they help organisations make better decisions, respond confidently to change and support long-term success.
“I look forward to working with new clients at RSM, helping them to build governance and assurance that goes beyond meeting regulatory requirements by adding real value to the business.”
Mayo joins RSM with more than 20 years’ experience across the financial services sector.
He has served as head of audit quality, methods and platform at Lloyds Banking Group and group chief internal auditor at Shawbrook Bank.
Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Deloitte and EY, advising financial institutions on governance, assurance and internal audit transformation.
RSM UK risk and governance head Alex Tait said: “Chris’ appointment is a real coup for the firm’s financial services risk and governance team.
“His blend of in-house experience and understanding of the advisory landscape place him in a strong position to support clients with navigating the ever-evolving regulatory landscape of financial services and implementing effective risk management frameworks.”
