Johnston Carmichael appoints new restructuring team head

UK-based accountancy and business advisory practice Johnston Carmichael has picked Graeme Bain as the head of its restructuring practice.

With the appointment taking effect immediately, Bain will oversee the company’s restructuring business line, supported by partners Donald McNaught and Richard Bathgate.

McNaught, who previously led the team, will remain in a senior role and concentrate on a defined portfolio of strategic work.

Bathgate will continue to focus on business development and external engagement.

The leadership changes follow the recent promotion of Sarah Bedford to appointment-taking director, further strengthening Johnston Carmichael’s restructuring capability across Scotland.

This change occurs as widespread financial strain across sectors drives a growing need for actionable, commercial guidance on distress, turnarounds and formal restructuring.

Johnston Carmichael’s restructuring team advises businesses, directors, creditors and individuals in both solvent and distressed situations.

Its work includes turnaround support, contingency planning, and guidance on formal insolvency and restructuring options.
