Sowers & Company was founded around two decades ago by Jason Sowers and has since been built up with the support of shareholder Erin Fowler.
The company focuses on tax, advisory and accounting services for high-net-worth individuals and small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) in the Houston area.
As part of the transaction, Sowers and Fowler will join Doeren Mayhew’s leadership team in principal roles.
All Sowers & Company employees have also moved across to Doeren Mayhew and are now based in its Houston office.
Sowers & Company founder and president Jason Sowers said: “We are delighted to join Doeren Mayhew and bring added resources to our clients and employees.
“Our goal was to find the right firm to help us evolve with the industry.
“Doeren Mayhew’s suite of services enables us to strengthen our client relationships, bring additional technical resources to the table and further develop our team so they can continue to excel in their careers.”
The deal comes during a period of accelerated growth for Doeren Mayhew in Houston.
Over the past 12 months, the company has integrated five practices into its local office, lifting its headcount by 58% to nearly 220 employees.
Doeren Mayhew also recently announced the purchase of Griffin Global Technologies, a move that broadens its technology and AI capabilities.

“Jason and Erin have built a respected tax and accounting practice with strong technical expertise, including an emphasis on estate planning. Their back-office accounting services will also complement our firm nicely.”
