Sharpe is an international and corporate tax specialist. He advises private equity-backed and non-private equity groups on domestic and cross-border transactions, structuring work and a range of business tax advisory matters.

Before joining S&W, Sharpe spent 15 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and most recently worked at EY, where he was promoted to partner last year.

In his new role, Sharpe will work with S&W’s tax and advisory teams to develop the company’s international tax offering and support clients on cross-border matters.

Commenting on his appointment, Sharpe said: “I am delighted to be joining the firm at a time when international and domestic tax matters continue to remain under significant scrutiny, while showing no sign of becoming less complex.

“I look forward to supporting the continued growth of S&W and working closely with clients, from private equity and private equity-backed groups through to other ambitious organisations, to navigate that complexity in a practical and commercially focused way.”

S&W business tax head Mark Webb said: “Ben’s experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to support clients with high-quality, commercially driven advice as part of our long-term growth strategy.”

Earlier this year, S&W created a dedicated economic advisory practice and appointed Schellion Horn and Jonathan Gillham as partners to lead the new team. The practice will focus on providing economic advice and independent expert services.
