Intuit and OpenAI have agreed on a multi-year partnership to develop financial intelligence in ChatGPT.

This arrangement will allow both individual users and businesses to access Intuit-supported applications directly from the ChatGPT interface, with the intention of introducing new ways to perform financial actions based on real-time data.

In this collaboration, ChatGPT users will be able to use Intuit applications without leaving the platform, undertaking a range of financial tasks.

The approach involves integrating Intuit’s expertise in finance with OpenAI’s machine learning models, which are designed to process user queries and provide tailored information or actions inside ChatGPT.

For individuals, Intuit applications within ChatGPT will offer tools to help users make specific money-related decisions.

These include finding credit cards, personal loans, or mortgages that fit their financial profile, receiving tax-related responses informed by their own data, estimating tax refunds, booking appointments with local AI-assisted tax professionals, and taking steps to manage their finances more efficiently.

Access to these features will require user permission.

Businesses using the apps in ChatGPT will receive insights drawn from live business data.

Some of the available actions include designing and sending customer campaigns to foster growth, issuing AI-generated payment reminders for invoices, viewing options for loans aligned with business needs, and maintaining accounting records automatically.

Intuit is also expanding its use of OpenAI’s advanced models within its generative AI operating system (GenOS), following a contract valued at over $100m across several years.

Intuit will incorporate OpenAI’s models to drive AI agents across its suite of services to interpret complex queries, deliver insights promptly, and assist with tasks such as cash flow forecasting, tax preparation, and payroll management, all via conversational interfaces.

Intuit CEO Sasan Goodarzi said: “We are taking a massive step forward to fuel financial success for consumers and businesses, unlocking growth for both companies.

“Our partnership combines the power of Intuit’s proprietary financial data, credit models, and AI platform capabilities with OpenAI’s scale and frontier models to give users the financial advantage they need to prosper.”

OpenAI Applications CEO Fidji Simo commented: “Intuit’s AI-powered financial platform helps millions of people manage their finances and run their businesses.

“This partnership combines our most advanced models and global scale with Intuit’s platform capabilities to help everyone make smarter financial decisions and build more secure futures.”
