The CPAmerica professional services
firm, Pulakos & Alongi, has established a radio programme to
provide advice for local business owners in New Mexico, US.

Let’s Talk Business New Mexico airs on the radio station KKOB AM
every second Saturday morning. It is co-hosted by Pulakos &
Alongi chief operating officer Bob Daniel and partner Brad
Steward.

Daniel said the programme includes Pulakos & Alongi partners
and managers, experts in particular fields, and successful business
owners who share their experiences in growing companies in New
Mexico. Although accountancy professionals are often featured on
radio programmes throughout the world, the International
Accounting Bulletin
is not aware of many firms that produce
their own show.

“The tag line of our show is that we’re trying to help
businesses run by design and not by default. That’s our constant
approach,” Daniel explained.

“We’re trying to provide information and advice for management,
business owners and their key employees. We’ve covered a pretty
wide variety of topics so far and hope to continue to do so. They
are not necessarily things that we are always experts in and it
isn’t necessarily just our folks on the show. We bring in two
guests to talk about a topic that is timely and relative. For
example, we recently focussed on a CPA firm that was a year into
its running and we used our own people to discuss that. We’ve
covered other areas such as how to buy health insurance, last
minute tax planning, computer security and outsourcing,” he
added.

Let’s Talk Business New Mexico attracts an audience of around
13,000 listeners.

“We’re very happy with the way it’s going at this point but
we’re hoping that we see a little wider listenership than this in
coming months,” he added. According to Daniel, upcoming programmes
will include selecting the right accounting system, and selecting
the right business corporate entity.

He said: “As a long-time accounting and consulting firm, we’re
privileged to have the opportunity on KKOB to reach out and share
our experience in a state-wide forum, asking questions and
providing practical advice. We’ve had a lot of fun with the show
and we’ve made lots of new friends along the way.”
