PEOPLE KPMG appoints chief of information security

KPMG US has appointed Jim Routh as chief information security officer to lead the firm’s information technology service information security group. Routh will be responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating the firm’s information security efforts.

He has 20 years of experience in this field and most recently worked as chief information security officer at the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation in New York. Prior to that, Routh led the information technology function for the institutional services and investment management businesses at American Express Financial Advisors.

MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS Crowe Horwath concludes New York merger

Crowe Horwath has completed a merger with New York City firm Hays & Company. The two firms signed an agreement to combine in February. David Lifson and Ed Kuczmarski will lead a team of six partners and 50 professionals at the new Crowe New York City office.

“With this combination, we will be better able to serve our East Coast clients as a national firm that is globally recognised, and the Hays personnel will be able to draw on our vast pool of resources to serve clients,” Crowe Horwath US chief executive Chuck Allen said.

Hays & Company is a former member of Moore Stephens International.

PEOPLE Ruiz takes Deloitte Spain helm

Fernando Ruiz has officially taken on his new role as head of Deloitte Spain following his election in February.

Ruiz succeeds Carlos Gonzalez, who will retire after nine years leading the firm and 24 years as a partner.

Ruiz has 17 years of experience as a partner and most recently led the firm’s financial services offering. He has also held different positions at Deloitte Global, including head of financial services in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

MEMBERSHIP ADDITIONS Ecovis expands in Bulgaria

Mid-tier network Ecovis has expanded in Bulgaria, admitting a new partner firm in the capital Sofia. Ecovis UBC Bulgaria is a consortium of companies with two partners, Atina Mavridis and Albena Yaneva. It has 37 staff members and offers accounting, legal, auditing and corporate advisory services.
