Namaru has nine partners including former tax partners in Australia from Deloitte, KPMG and PwC, as well as former heads of tax at Deutsche Bank, RBS and UBS. Namaru CEO James Jobson said the firm offers a full range of tax advice and a virtual tax director service. In addition to working with Namaru, Jobson is also the managing director and founder of Portoria a boutique tax management firm.
Prior to founding Portoria, James spent nine years at KPMG and later moved in-house at UBS, where most recently he was head of tax advisory (Asia Pacific). There he provided advice to UBS’s investment bank, wealth management and global asset management operations across Asia Pacific. He was a member of UBS’s Global Tax Management Committee and Global Tax Sensitive Transactions Committee.? The firm’s name, Namaru, comes from the words used by the Gadigal people for a compass literally meaning ‘to see the pathway’.
